ASE SAMPLE PROJECT

LINKS CREATION

PROCEDURE

While editing alignment “N-12” inside “C:\AseSampleProject\Drawings\Design.Training.dwg”:

         (1)        From the ASE ribbon, select [Design] [Links] [Grade]

         (2)        Select any 3 Design Markers to create a Link through a curve. [01]

         (3)        Select any 2 Design Markers to create a linear Link.

         (4)         Using the procedure above, create as many Links as needed. [02]

         (5)

RESTRICTIONS

Links created in the “Slope” format may only be created as a linear measurement. When using this format, the user will not be prompted for a Marker on the curve.

The current version of ASE Civil requires that Links be created from a non-rotated, orthographic, plan view, otherwise the Link creation or updating process will fail.

When initially creating or editing a Link, both the parent and child Design Markers must be visible in the current view, otherwise the creation or editing process will fail..

Do not manually unlock Design Markers that have been used to create a Link. If the Marker(s) is/are deleted from the drawing, this will corrupt the Link hierarchy and/or the Design Marker network that the Link belongs to. This will cause a variety of processing problems and inconvenience to the user, resulting in lost production time. If the Design Markers are used properly, according to the developer guidelines, the likelihood of any need for troubleshooting or repair is dramatically reduced or even eliminated.

REFERENCES

[01]

Viewing the YouTube video which demonstrates how to create Links is strongly recommended for those new to ASE Civil.

[03]

Exorbitant creation of Links will not degrade drawing performance, regardless of how many of them exist in the drawing. The system has been optimized so that only the design elements directly associated to a modified region of the Design Marker network will be audited during a design change.
